Suffolk Wedding Photography of Sharon and Glenn

The Wedding Photography of Sharon & Glenn who got married at All Hallows Church Ipswich, Suffolk; followed with their wedding reception at Ipswich Ruby Club.  All Hallows Church is an Art Decor building that despite being relatively modern is very rare and was idyllic inside for their wedding ceremony.I went to the church before going to the Bride’s to get a few photos in and around the church without anyone else being around.  As it was a hot sunny day I realised immediately that there would be a problem with group photos as the front of the church because it is south facing and gets the full sun all day.  After a quick recce around the building grounds it was clear there was not going to be anywhere to get shelter from the sun.  The vicar was already there so I was able to discuss this with him.  He was very friendly despite telling me there were to be no photos taken during the service, which I always respect.  Anyway he said it would be OK to take group shots in the church as long as we vacated it within about ten minutes.  From experience I know that group photos are never this quick as it takes time to locate the appropriate people, so I know that the best option would be to take them at the reception, which is what I did.

When I finished at the church the went round to Sharon’s where she had already had her hair done and was getting her make-up applied by a make-up artist.  After taking a few candid shots it was time to leave them in peace while I photographed all the details, such as the Bride’s shoes, jewellery, bouquet and dress.  Sharon did not want any boudoir shots with the Bridesmaids getting her ready so I got everything ready for the Bridal portraits, using her French doors as a back drop – knowing the garden would be completely blown out to give a white background as can be seen in one of the wedding photos below.  Before leaving I set up a mock leaving of the Bride and her father.  Luckily the Rolls Royce arrived just in time for a few shots with the Bride and Bride’s dad.

At the church Glenn was already at the church and the first few guests had started to arrive.  I took Glenn and his Bestman round the back of the church and photographed them in front of a hedge.  There was not much room as there was only the width of the pavement before stepping into the road – well parked cars!  However at least this ensured I had a good picture of the Groom sheltered from the sun before photographing the arrivals in the full blast of the sun.  This was not too bad as no one was looking to the camera and they were naturally avoiding the harsh sunlight.

The signing of the register was half way through the ceremony.  The Bride & Groom came up the aisle and I did hake a few pictures of this and then in the doorway before they came out of the church – being careful not to let them into the harsh light.  They then went round the side of the church and back in through another entrance where they signed the register and we did the usual photos including the bridal group, as seen below.  I took all these on a tripod just using natural light, which is a huge improvement over using flashgun on the camera.

Outside after the ceremony the Bride & Groom received champagne from their car driver and chatted with the guests.  Before setting off, I took some photos of them in the car before we headed off to Westerfield House for some portraits of the Bride & Groom.  Several of their close friends & family came along so it was not possible in the end  to get time alone the Sharon & Glenn.
