This afternoon we decided to go to the Ufford Bygones and fun day to do something a little different. And it was all in a good cause for the Ipswich St Elizabeth Hospice.
Tara-Jane was working today so we just took Jon-Luke and his friend who was over ours. I don’t think they were overly keen at first but had a great time from the moment we arrived. First they saw a huge inflatable slide but then had the chance to drive a car, which caught their attention.
A local driving school was taking children round a small circuit laid out by cones. Next to them was a slightly more complex layout set up by the Mini club, which was only open to adults with a drivers license. It must have been difficult as they were struggling more than the children driving around the cones and reverse parking.
Jon-Luke thought the driving school car was going a bit slow and someone thought the instructor was controlling the speed, but I’m sure he only had a clutch and brake pedal. Eventually their turn came. We were amazed as Jon-Luke and his friend drove quite quickly around the course and even reversed confidently. Not bad considering neither of them had ever driven before! We have put it down to all the Xbox games
Here are a few pictures of Jon-Luke driving. This made Tara-Jane envious as she is applying for her provisional license and has not driven herself yet…

Horay it's my turn!
And as you can see the adults were not having such an easy time in the next bay…
Oops! I swerved three times before running off the road.
Luckily guys are close on hand to lift the Mini back over the log.
Later on we were wondering around looking at some old cars and traction engines when this guy caught my attention. He’s a chimney sweep from Wickham Market but dressed in traditional clothing and with a bicycle in front of his van. He was happy to pose for a few pictures. Unfortunately the van in the background spoils the shots, which is a shame.

And finally Jon-Luke managed to find his way into the front seat of a London bus. All aboard…
