It was a bright sunny afternoon and all these shots were taken using only natural light. Wearing sun glasses allows you to look towards the sun (with your eyes closed) and look fabulous without squinting. Correctly exposing for the areas in direct sun light means other areas are thrown into deep shadows for some beautiful dramatic pictures.
This new building from the New Suffolk University Campus makes another great location for an environmental portrait. Notice the catch-light caught in the sun glasses.
However even in bright sun light it is usually possible to find shady areas for soft light. The soft light brings out the gentle side of your personality.
