Glamour Photography Brolly Girl
The other night a client came to the private studio for her free consultation. The initial brief was that she wanted a glamour photo shoot. As we were chatting I couldn’t help but notice she was wearing a Repsol Honda T-shirt so I asked whether she was into motorcycles. Turned out she loves racing and hopes to do the racing circuit as a brolly girl.
This spurred me to dig out some old pictures I took when I covered motorsports for a couple of years. I was surprised to find that I hadn’t got any pictures on any of my websites!
I have archived most of motor racing photos but found some on my hard drive from an old portfolio. Here are a few of my favourites including a couple from my sporting module when I did my diploma in photography. And I’ve even included two brolly girls for good measure.

The sidecar outfits make brilliant great subjects as they come up Padock Hill into Druids at Brands Hatch

This car was shot at Russell bend at Snetterton using a very slow shutter speed to capture the speed.

Check out the reflection in his helmet. Taken on the inside of Druids hairpin at Brands Hatch - probably one of my favourites as I used to have a motorcyle exactly like that - not that I could every ride that fast!!!

Crash in the background show how much luck you need as a photographer to capture a crash spectacularly. This was taken at Russell Bend Snetterton.

Iconic shot of Gregoria Lavilla who was 2006 BSB reining champion closely followed by Leon Haslam as they come out of Druids at Brands Hatch.

Back to 2005 now when Gregorio Lavilla was chasing the BSB championship. Taken in the pits at Cadwell Park.

Some warm up action from Cadwell as GSXR1000 comes over the top of the mountain. Can't recall who the rider was off the top of my head.

I'm going to kick myself but can't recal who won the trophie here, except he was riding a Yamaha R6.
Motorcycles make a fantastic prop for women to pose with, which reminds me I’ve been meaning to put some old pictures up from one of my first glamour shoots with a model on a friends race bike. And a later shoot with a local model on my motorcycle – she was the partner of the guy who owned the studio and loved the idea of posing on a motorcycle.

PS Have you got a motorcycle or perhaps a sports or vintage car you’d like to pose on for your glamour photography experience?
