One of the great new features of the Canon 5D Mk2 is its ability to take full HD video. This will be the next big thing in wedding photography especially if you don’t have a videographer. The skills are very different but your wedding photographer will be able to record parts of your ceremony from their position by the alter. The Camera is able to take pictures whilst videoing so your precious moments won’t be missed – there will just be a slight gap in the video footage.
As you can imagine capturing video creates huge amounts of data that needs to be captured at high speeds into the camera’s memory card.
To ensure I’m able to capture video at key stages during your wedding, I’ve just taken receipt of two high speed 8GB CompactFlash memory cards. This doubles the amount of memory I’ll have at my disposal on your wedding day!
As a side note
…And a question to ask the photographer you’re considering
I believe it’s essential to have adequate memory on CompactFlash cards to capture your whole day. All your precious images are also kept on my person at all times removing the risk of letting the cards get lost or easily stolen. To minimize risk from a faulty card I regularly rotate the card in the camera
Any wedding photographer who opts to copy their images/video on to a Portable Storage Device or laptop runs a real risk of loosing your wedding photos.
