Suffolk wedding photographers in Yoxford for Sian and Jesse’s wedding day. Sian and Jesse wanted a laid back approach being predominantly reportage wedding photography.
Their wedding reception was only five minutes walk from St Peters church with marquees set up in the back garden of Jesse’s parents. It was an impressive set up with ample room for travelling friends to set up tents at the bottom of the garden. When I arrived earlier in the day Jesse was hard at work with other family members making final preparations.
Sian had hired a cottage close to the church for her bridal preparations and her ten bridesmaids. The cottage was spadiceous inside. It need to be with so many people getting ready.
Wedding photography is often challenging with difficult lighting situations. And this was no exception. The cottage had strong sunlight pouring through windows at either end, yet remained relatively dark towards the middle. I used the flashgun with a specialized light modifier to reduce the lighting contrast. Without adding some light the bridesmaids would be silhouettes against the bright windows. Done correctly it’s possible to create natural images. Without making people look like card board cut outs. And without casting unsightly shadows on the walls behind.
Molly, one of Sian’s bridesmaids and Jesse’s sister, was an angel. She prepared lunch for everyone, including me
Made drinks. Washed up. And helped the younger bridesmaids get ready!
As the church was Anglican, Sian wanted a short Catholic mass before going on to her wedding ceremony. Their local priest came to the house and prepared an area to conduct the mass. Before mass he also provided moral support as tensions ran high.
After the mass, I had three minutes for bridal portraits. Then we all left for the wedding ceremony. Everyone walked to the church. I waked a few metres ahead taking reportage photos.
St Peters church is a large church providing an idyllic venue for their wedding ceremony as you’ll see in the pictures below.
Following the ceremony everyone walked back to the wedding reception. This gave the only formal part to the day with the group photos taken with their barn in the background.
Sian and Jesse’s wedding photos are now available for on-line viewing. If you didn’t pick up a card at the wedding reception ask Sian or Jesse for your FYP code. Simply enter your code in the FRP form at the bottom of this page. You’ll be taken off to your on-line viewing area where you can view and purchase your selected prints and framed wall prints etc.
