NYC photographer John “Jean-Luc” Ricard compares a professional ring light with the Ray Flash ring flash adapter.
There has been a lot of hype recently regarding ring flash adapters that can effectively convert your humble flashgun into a ring flash as used in the fashion industry. Ring flashes are notoriously expensive, which several flashgun adapters on the market challenge but can they deliver the goods?
Watch this video to find out.
The flashgun ring flash adapter featured is by Ray Flash. The latest ring flash to hit the market is the Orbis Ring Flash, which is a similar device except the main difference is that the flashgun is hand held. This removes strain from the flashgun and hotshoe but means the photographer losses some control of the camera lens with using that hand to hold the ring flash adapter. Although to be fair the Ray Flash style unit is probably equally limiting in that respect.
