It was a real pleasure to do the wedding photography for Seema & Martin as I know them as friends and it was my first real local wedding in Ipswich, Suffolk, despite being an Ipswich wedding photographer. The wedding ceremony was All Saints Church in Kesgrave with the reception at Fynn Valley Golf Club, Witnesham, Suffolk.
It was June 2007 and only my fifth wedding!
I had met Martin the year before at my gym. As I learned later, Seema designs wedding dresses under her brand name Izzi Izaiah Brides. Over the coming months I did several fashion shoots for Seema with local girls wearing her evening & Bridal dresses. Most of the pictures on their website were taken by myself and I will be putting some on-line under the commercial section in due course.
This helped me gain experience with studio lighting and posing models for some freelance work I was doing at the time. In many respects it was doing this work for Seems that got me started with wedding photography when the future of my day job became insecure.
When Martin invited me to their wedding in June I initially thought he meant the following year but when I found out that he meant a few weeks time and that they did not have a photographer - I offered to do their wedding photography as a wedding present.
Seema & Martin’s wedding was a fairly simple affair with mainly family and a few close friends. Seema’s mum & dad came over from India and as I recall only just managed to get their visas sorted in time. Martin’s family came from north England, although I can’t recall exactly where now.
Seema’s mum & dad run the factory in India where the dresses are made, so I thought it was apt to include a picture of them making a few last minute alterations to Seema’s dress moments before she had to put it on 
As you can see the style of these images is very different to those I take now although I have reprocessed these using the Photoshop actions I currently use to achieve a similar appearance. I do still take many candid shots as shown here but they rarely make it on to the website. Martin also hates having his picture taken so absolutely refused to pose for any Bride & Groom portraits, so the only way to get natural pictures was candidly with reportage, photojournalist style shooting

Seema now has a shop in Tacket Street, Ipswich where you can see a large range of wedding & evening dresses that she has designed. These are beautifully made to measure garments in finest materials such as silk.
