While we have been in Germany I’ve been reading “Photographing the world around you” by Freeman Patterson about visual design in film and photography.
It is an excellent book going beyond the normal conventions in composition, such as the rule of thirds, etc. that you will be familiar with.
It talks about the building blocks for visual design that consists of lines, shapes, texture and perspective.
These are then organised in the final image through dominance, balance, proportion and rhythm.
I had hoped to write a little bit about these but am getting too low on time. Hopefully I will be able to add something soon when I get back to England….
